Welcome to Hanson Outdoors!
I'm Chris Hanson and I'd like to welcome you to my site. I have a passion for the outdoors and enjoy the outdoors in many different ways; open water fishing to ice fishing, spring turkey hunting to fall deer hunting, crappies to catfish and all species in between. The purpose of Hanson-Outdoors is to share, educate, and entertain people with my love for the outdoors.
I've spent my entire life living in the state of Minnesota. I'm now enjoying my life in the metro Twin Cities and surrounding areas. I'm learning that some of the most overlooked metro areas can present some of the greatest outdoor experiences available; specifically the Mississippi, Minnesota, and St. Croix Rivers. If you've never fished these bodies of water, pay attention to my site, you are probably missing out!
I'm very fortunate to have a family that introduced me to the outdoors at a very young age through camping trips, fishing, and hunting. It seems like I've always had a fishing rod in hand or closely following the footsteps of my father through the grouse & deer woods. Over the years, I've become very interested and dedicated to a few of my favorite outdoor pasttimes- Ice Fishing & Catfishing. Hunting is a way for me to get out in the field and spend an autumn, or spring day, with good friends and family but I don't pursue hunting as avidly as my fishing pursuits.
Summer 2007 is in the books! What an awesome summer! Highlights include a trip to the Milk River in Montana to fish a tourney with the boys from Montana Cats, fishing the Cat's Incredible Tourney with my dad, BP Cat League, Moore's Bait & Tackle Contests, a couple fun trips to the Red River, and a very solid summer of Flathead Catfishing on the Minnesota River. Please check out my Catfish Page to read about the Summer of 2007.
Here we are... middle of Ice Fishing season, and what a fun year it has been. Channel Cats through the ice, a 10" Bluegill, and an unbelievable trip to Burntside Lake in northern Minnesota fishing Lake Trout are under my belt. Upper Red Lake Crappies are still on the agenda along with a trip back to the Big Bluegill Hole!
Fall Hunting 2007 went as fast as it normally does... too fast! We had some good duck & goose shoots early this year. My brother let me sit in his "lucky" deer stand which proved to be unlucky for me. Busted! But a good part of my fall was spent with a fishing rod in hand. I had a couple phenomenal fall fishing trips which I hope to report on.
