GIANT Flathead Catfish Minnesota River - May 23, 2008
Summer 2008 Flathead Catfishing is under way for me and I got a BIG jumpstart to the season this year. BIG in the way of 47lbs on my very first fish of the year, after only 5 minutes of fishing! Words simply cannot describe what I experienced that Friday evening. This is THE reason I spend so many hours fishing in the dark until the wee hours of the morning. Check out the video below, its quite possibly 15 minutes of the greatest experience I've ever had with a fishing rod. Truly unbelievable!

Sturgeon Excursion 2007!!! April 18-21, 2007
This is the second year in a row now that this has been my highlight fishing trip of the year! Simply put... the fishing is amazing! What made this year better was I got to spend the weekend with my dad, and watch him catch bigger fish than me!
Cat's Incredible, East Grand Forks, ND August 11-13, 2006
Hanson Outdoors will be fishing the Cat's Incredible on the Red River of the North in August. This will hopefully be the first of many Cat's Incredible tournaments for myself. The Cat's Incredible is regarded as one of the biggest and best channel cat tournaments in the country. Red River Valley Catfish Club League Tournament July 22, 2006
Our little warm up to the Cat's Incredible turned out to be a very fun time fishing and almost found us cashing a check. My partner Shannon Martin & myself finished in 7th place out of 35 teams with a total weight of 33.2lbs. Shannon caught our big fish weighing 15.6lbs and I followed that up with a 13.2lbs. Our "slot fish" of 4.4lbs rounded out our tourny limit.
Red River of the North - May 26-27, 2006
After last years channel cat trips to the Red River of the North, I've been planning a few more trips for this year as well. The location of the first summer 2006 Red River cat trip was Grand Forks, ND. I spent two days on the river fishing with my dad and uncle and did we have fun!
I'm fresh back from the Fishing Minnesota sponsored Sturgeon Excursion on Lake of the Woods. The weekend was all I could have asked for and more. The weather was great, the people were great, and the fishing was great for the largest game fish in the state of Minnesota. A catfisherman has no problem getting excited about large fish, and the Rainy River near the Canadian border holds plenty of the largest sturgeon found in Minnesota.
